I just CAN'T stop procrastinating on my homework lately. How to find a cure...And yes, I am punkette.

really cant think of a cure....except.....stop procrastinating
itz all your own will if u can do it then power to u

From experience, I can say with total confidence, "NO".
:(
At least for me...

Yes. The cure rests in self-flagellation.

Go to the library without friends... Adult section surrounded by boring books.

what if you put off flagellating yourself indefinitely as well?

yeah. um. I really don't think there's a cure. You just have to have the self motivation to do your work again. Whether its an external motivating factor or it comes from within yourself, you're not going to stop procrastinating unless you have A motivation to do something about it yourself. And speaking from personal experience, second semester senior year you're NOT going to find a cure. Most likely it will get worse.

Well, at our school AP Biology is the cure. We had to write a 200 page book(1/2 page writing, 14 font, half page pictures, diagrams, etc) and everybody procrastinated. We stayed up until three or four in the morning for a few days, and did no other homework either. We learned our lesson. I guess writing a 200 page book with a deadline will solve your procastination problem.

We will never learn. Actually we already have learned in the past (all nighters and what not)

The problem is, we will never apply.

If the deadline isn't within days, usually the work isn't done.
I love deadlines
I hate deadlines

force yourself into doing it on time. don't let yourself touch ANYTHING (computer, phone, food) until you finish 1/2 of your homework or something. or get a friend to come over and force you to do work and slap your head every time you get distracted.

or you could just screw yourself over again by procrastinating

If it weren't for the last minute, when would I get anything done?

meh just procrastinate haha if you've gotten stuff done after procrastinating why wouldn't it work again haha

I posted this thread and got some good advice from parents.

I can't honestly say that I've implemented any major changes yet, but I'm staying optimistic.

Well, you can always attempt to rely on your friends to place a good beating on you...but if they procrastinate, then you're pretty much screwed.

Think about all the hassles that will result for not getting stuff done...and think about where you want to be in 1 year. Do you want to have more choices in life or less. Thats a way to get motivated. You aren't doing the work for the teachers, you are doing it for yourself. Once you realize that, and that you control your own future and you only have yourself to blaim for messing things up. Did I scare you enough ;)

Sometimes thinking beyond the moment, and what you want for yourself in the future might be enough to push you to do what needs to be done.

Also, reward yourself for getting things done on time. And breakdown the work into smaller chunks...

citygirlsmom -- Very good points.

punkette-- are you a senior? if so, then there is no cure for procrastination / senioritis.

I'm a sophomore. My procrastinating has decreased, I believe, a bit. However it's mostly the organizing my tasks that I need help with. meh.

Procrastination for me usually comes down to taking endless naps. I'll get home and take a nap and won't do my homework until 11-12 maybe past then, no matter how big the project. The one method I tried, which worked, but I only tried it once, was to shower right before I felt tired. This at least forces you to stay awake for maybe an hour and in that hour maybe you'll do some productive. I should try my own method more often...

I think its just the environment.

after school just head to the library and start working.
for me, I usually procrastinate until 1 or 2 in the morning

but for some very strange reason, I get this immense urge to finish my homework during the school day when the homework was set.
