Uh, can anybody tell me what are some good things to do to stop procrastination? I tell myself to start projects, and etc early, but I always end up doing it the night before.

For example, I have a project due tomorrow, for English, and it's kind of like a book report, and I have not read the book. -_-

I watch a movie with either a lot of suffering, gore, or internal conflict...it really kicks the pansy part out of you for a few hours. I stop making excuses and I stop taking it easy.

I procrastinate depending on the value of the assignment, its due date, and what it entails. Sometimes, for a large history project, I will start nearly imeediately; other minor things, like any type of homework, studying for quizzes or tests other than history I will do from at most two nights before.

today, i woke up at 9.30 (very very early for me) (it's the holidays), and i decided to finish everything that distracts me, like watch tv, sunbathe, cc, talk on phone, etc.. (kinda like Ghandiji's method).

And i did.

And i'm back on cc. Without anything done.

So many cc kids are procrastinators. Maybe it's a smart-people thing lol

NoFX- i totally agree!!
it's a major senioritis thing for me. i've had all vacation to write an 8-page paper. and here i am with one page. i clicked "minimize" to go check my e-mail, come here, check my myspace, go eat, listen to music. really bad strategy to get it done, huh? :/

lol that's like the time i did my AP euro book report in a day. i started reading the 360 page book immediately when i came home. Finished reading at like 3AM. I was too tired and went to sleep until 6AM. Started typing my report like mad, and was done by 7AM. Revised some of it during lunch and it worked out. Just telling u how u can pull it off although i don't recommend anyone planning on doing this.

Normally, I push off all summer assignments until the weekend before school starts. Except the start of this year, I still had two more books to read and 5 papers and it was Sunday. I didn't finish everything until 4am.

Also, last year, I read the Bell Jar and had to do a book report on it...started 8pm that night, finished 3am the next morning...went to school and got an A on it.

Once, I had a history project (sophomore year) exam and was trying to do it but couldn't get the right information for it. I didn't finish it until 1:05pm and then exam started (well, presentations) at 1:15pm.

Procrastination makes life so much harder, but I never learn. Like now, I have to read a play, memorise a soliloquoy, do ap euro homework, and I should start working on my pre-calc and euro project which are do soon (I don't remember when though...I don't think that's a good thing).

it depends on your habit.. change it. nobody can stop it bvut you.. just like medicines dont really work on stopping people from smoking.. they have to do it themselves.
