Procrastination

Hi everyone,
How do you guys get past procrastination issues (if you have them)? I am a terrible procrastinator, and it makes my life so much harder than it has to be, haha. I can plan out my time with a schedule, but actually following it is really hard. I keep thinking it's going to get better but honestly it has just gotten worse as I put more stress on myself. I'm procrastinating right now, haha. Help? :)

Obligatory comment: I’ll tell you tomorrow.

I really have no idea. I’ve mostly just learned to work well under pressure.

Yes I have an idea. If you have any research assignments to do, anything to read, etc. on the internet, PRINT IT OUT AND READ IT AND THEN DESTROY YOUR INTERNET CABLE. Do something that will force you to be productive.

For a full 5 months (October-February), a virus destroyed my computer. My computer was a wreck, and I could only use the internet in case of emergency via this little thumb drive operating system that was REALLY REALLY SLOW. It took 15-20 minutes to boot up the internet, and even then, I couldn’t watch any videos, play games, etc.

Those were the most productive months of my life. I self-studied Alg.2/Trig, Precalculus, and AP Calculus AB, and also part of AP Physics B. I read a ton of classic novels. I had a lot of time to think about my future, and I set up my plans for the summer (got 2 internships w/ physics professors).

Also, once you’ve seen how awesome life can be without procrastination, you will try your best to always be productive!

Do not think that everyone is a procrastinator. Many students make the most out of their time, and those students go on to do great things!

I haven’t gotten past this issue yet. I don’t feel like it right now; maybe another time.

_

haha halcyonheather

And I totally agree with you BurnOut! Internet is like ruining my life!
The problem is, I don’t have a printer so I’m forced to read stuff online haha. And I have a laptop and wifi (haha my life is hard, I know). I feel like I am trying so hard to be productive but the internet is just like a black hole.
I have 6 APs next year, so I really need to fix this problem.
How should I restrain myself from this black hole?? Haha. By the way, my school is getting ipads that every student has to use and I always have a bunch of online homework… not helping the problem…
I really want to stop being a procrastinator.

Stand up, stomp your foot on the floor, and say, “I am NOT going to put this off any longer!” and get to work with no second thoughts.

Procrastination could be the result of anxiety. You could be running away from something, probably some sort of flight instinct. Anyway I’d see a therapist and see if talking about it helps. GL

Yeah I am an anxious person. And yeah, Secoja8, I should probably get off this website right now haha.

I have the worst time with procrastination. I will work on an assignment until I only have a little bit left to do. But then, I have trouble completing that little bit. Ahh, next year will be a struggle…

This is exactly how I feel about my own procrastination problem.

Haha glad to know I’m not alone.
