I’m writing my essay about a time when I witnessed a man make racist, profane remarks towards my family. The direct quote uses the word “b****” however I don’t know if it is wise to use profanity in a college application. I’ve tried to paraphrase it in a way that doesn’t use the curse word, but I’m having trouble conveying the real toxicity of this man’s remarks. Any advice?
I think that when you’re directly addressing toxic behavior that sanitizing it waters down the message. The language is a central part of your story, so I would repeat what this person said to you. I’m sorry that they were so horrible.
You need to use the word. No impact without it.
I think it is okay to use in this context. Just be sure your essay topic is something that makes them want you on campus. Read the tips at the top of the essay forum.
You could use it as you’ve done in your post here?
