I have a professor at Rice who is willing to write me a letter of recommendation for college. Do I just get him to write a separate letter of recommendation, or is there some format I should tell him to write along. In addition, whats the best way to submit the letter? (Like would a sealed envelope be over the top?)
Thanks!

If you’re in high school, and your guidance counselor handles sending out regular recs, have Rice prof write a general separate rec, and give him pre-addressed envelope of high school guidance counselor so prof can drop it in mail. Give GC a heads up that this is coming.

If high school GC does NOT handle recs, and it is YOUR job to mail them to colleges, then ask prof to write general letter, seal it in a pre-addressed envelope, and ask prof to drop it in the mail.

In other words, Rice prof should handle rec the exact same way any other rec is handled, the only exception being the actual rec form will not be used by the Rice prof.
