Professor Recommendations??

Does anyone have any recommendations for professors for Math 114, Econ 002, Econ 101, Spanish 140?? Also any writing course recommendations or courses anyone advises against??

Thanks!!

My friend at Penn said for econ 101 you should try for Prof. Rebecca Stein

Talk to your peer and pre-major advisors – they would know best.

ECON001 is the one Stein teaches, and that’s for sure a good choice. I actually liked Gwen Eudey for ECON002.

Looks like Eudey isn’t teaching 002 next semester. I guess she’s on sabatical or something. I’d try out Okada for Econ 101 because I’ve heard bad things about Li. Spanish 140 I don’t think the professor matters too much. Most Spanish teachers seem pretty OK and my friends havn’t really complained about any. For the 114 professors, I don’t know about most of them, but know not to take Pimsner.

For 114 who is better… Haglund or Pimsner?

=/

I heard awful stuff from my friends who had Pimsner for 114 two years ago. Then again, everyone that year was awful. You’re almost better off picking the time that works best for you.

What about storm? He seems to have good ratings for calc 3…

Oh! Is it possible to get from an engineering class to a math class if they are scheduled back to back?

THANKS!

Towne and DRL are across the street from eachother. You can go from one end of campus to the other in 10 minutes if you have to.

About Storm, some of my friends had him. Didn’t hear too much good or bad about him.

Read the bloody handbook. Classes that go, say, from 10:00~11:00 actually ends at 10:50, giving you 10 minutes to get to the next class.

Thanks. I knew I had 10 minutes. I just wasn’t sure if it is possible to go from one end of campus to the other in 10 minutes (was only slightly possible in my high school).

In terms of Stein vs. Spiegel for Econ, take Stein if you want to memorize more or Spiegel if you want to do a little more math. Some people are scared away from Spiegel because he’ll use scary terms like “second derivative” casually, but if you can handle math from AB (maybe a little BC) calc outside of a math context, he’ll be better. He’s also pretty funny, especially if you like Israeli humor.
