professor recs

Do you guys know if professors put their educational backgrounds/history when writing recs? You know- like B.S at .... PHD at ..... ?

doubt it, mine didnt...its not about them anyway

Highly unlikely. If they have a degree from the school in question, they might mention it as a way of indicating that they know you'd be a good fit for the school.

yeah- that's why i was asking. He got his PHD from stanford and i'll be applying there. I was thinking it could really help(IF i do well in the class, participate, maybe do research with him, etc.)

It certainly can't hurt ;). As you will know the prof well enough to ask for a rec, you might ask if his rec will indicate that he is a Stanford Phd. Were I writing such a rec, I would sign the rec along the following lines, which accomplishes the goal.

Professor Andale, Ph.D.
Stanford '89
