So our professor offered to let us take the final a week ahead of the scheduled date. Everyone took it then, but I chose to take it this Tuesday since I also had a chem test that day and didn’t have the time to study. I then asked a friend how long the test took and they said 15 minutes…the thing is that he lives 3 hours away and commutes to our school to teach us. Although it was the original test date, I am the only one taking it and it is only a 15ish minute test. Should I get him a gift. I have a ton of dollars left on my card here that must be spent, so I was thinking of getting him a starbucks gift card? Thoughts?
Nope. He knew that was a possibility when he gave the offer. A gift of any sort looks a bit off in my book.
A heartfelt thank you will do the trick.
Agree, no gift is necessary. I would say thanks and let him know that you had another test the week earlier and wouldn’t have have time to properly prepare to take his exam at that time. I would imagine that the professor will go to his office and get some paperwork/ grading papers done while his is on campus. I’d stay away from giving a gift.
I agree. I genuine thank you in person is a good way to show the teacher your thanks.
My dad was a professor for more than 50 years. What meant the most to him was receiving notes from students. He kept all of them!
I got a pretty genuine thank you note from a student this semester and also some cookies. Both were great and both were totally unneccessary.
I believe the class was considered quite difficult by many of the students so I briefly considered whether the cookies might be poisoned, but decided they were chocolate chip so it was worth the risk.
Starbucks gift card is fine. I think that it is a thoughtful & appropriate gift in your situation.
