i was really sick for one of the tests in my stats class, and as a result, i ended up getting a B purely because i did crappy on that test which was A DIRECT RESULT of me being sick. I asked my professor if i could retake it, and i explained the circumstances, but i DID go. I’m not going to try to beat you down like everyone else here. I’m willing to bet you’ve learned your lesson: don’t just expect professors to give you the ability to retake your tests.

contact UCI and tell them your situation, and pray that they’re willing to let you take it in summer. I don’t see why not (other than they let someone else take your place who has the math requirement fulfilled) since summer break is like 4 months long, there’d be no harm in it. I believe a friend of mine got into UCLA without fulfilling the language requirement, so its always possible.

last year I threw up during an Geo midterm…about 5 min in. That was the worst I’ve EVER felt. My teacher gave me a make up (but with another version of the test) out of sheer pity the following Monday.

You shoulda gone, OP.

edit: But try to go over your math teacher’s head on this one…there has to be someone higher up who can do something about your sitch! If anything…maybe UCI will let you retake math during summer? Doubtful though

…No matter how sick you are…your supposed go and take the final. We are adults here, unless its deathly sick (like had to go to the emergency room sick) then theres no excuse.

You were given to opportunity to transfer, that is a privilege. Seriously, you were well enough to email the professor and tell him that you’re feeling sick - that is NOT a medical emergency. I’m sorry to be blunt but things aren’t looking good for you and there really is nothing you can do except to contact UCI and hope for their grace.

very simple, go get a doctor’s note and just pretend to be sick, make a photocopy of whatever note he gave you, whiteout whatever he marked you as having, and mark a more serious illness such as bronchitis or influenza, then photocopy that and give it to your teacher

Not proud of this, but when I was younger, I took public speaking over my first summer after HS (8 wk) and bailed on class for 4 weeks straight. I told my professor that I had complications with my tonsils being taken out and made a fake doctor’s note. When I came back, she had the whole class give me a standing round of applause for being such a trooper and I had to pretend that I actually had them taken out and give an impromptu speech about my experience I ended up getting an A but I’ve felt guilty about it ever since lol!

to all saying he should fake a doctors note .
Thats fraud, while I don’t think they’ll press charges , he’ll get a academic dishonesty on his record .
Try transferring and explaining THAT

Should’ve just dragged your ass up to the final…a crappy grade>0. Have you failed the class? Just don’t do the fake note thing…it’s distasteful.

Not just anybody can write a credible looking prescription or diagnosis summary. They contain phrases, wording, abbreviations and symbols that we did not really start to pick up until we were third year medical students. Any doctor can easily spot a fake written by a layman.

lol nice! It’s great that you had a nice professor who let you retake it. congrats
Sometimes people forget that professors are people too… I mean considering your situation I’m sure he felt bad you would have to wait a whole year just for one class.

I forgot to take a final last year and was going to get a D, but the professor allowed me to have an IP in lieu of my final grade and I was allowed to take the final the following semester.
