So, how do you choose which professors you want? I went to CalSO and the class registration only shows where your classes are at.

Most courses show the prof who is going to teach it. Theses sometimes change for various reasons, such as a prof becoming an administrator as just caused some minimal shuffling in the philosophy department, or many other possible reasons, but it's rare. Some courses will say "THE STAFF" if the particular professor hasn't be worked out yet by the department, and some are blank, but a very high percentage of the classes have the prof who will end up teaching them listed with it.

hey the english class that i singed up for just changed professors...

For your first year or two, you won't chose classes (for the most part) based on the professor, and sometimes larger pre-reqs won't even have them listed at first. It's just assumed that the lower-divs are the annoying classes you just have to take to get to the good classes and good professors.

Well, I think many people, especially science/engineering majors, do not choose their classes based on the professors, sometimes almost all the way through school in most of their classes (this is mostly the strictly structured engineering majors). I think many students could choose largely on prof and which courses interest them (I did). I think many look forward to their courses, but sure, some assume they are the grunt work.
