Powell:

Alvarez:

I couldn't find Dobrowolski. Hope that'll help.

Kafka- I took him last year, and I wasn't particularly fond of him. Class is really boring, you can bring your laptop and be on facebook or AIM the whole time, but it's better if you pay attention and take notes...that being said, i spent 3+ hours studying for each of the four "quizzes" that constitute our grades and never got higher than an 80%, because they are so detail-oriented (hint: study the powerpoints!!). However, he does utilize a curve, and after studying hard for the final, got an A in the class. If you're just taking this class to fulfill the science core and nothing else, I'd stick with it...not too much work, and if you put some effort into it you won't get lower than a B or B+ (which definitely isn't true for Survey of Bio, for example). Also, if you have to take 2 semesters of science, and you want an "easy out", PLEASE take Living Earth II with Barnett. EASIEST CLASS EVER, EASIEST A EVER.

Tresch- I'm taking him this upcoming semester, and I hear he's AMAZING. Yes, I have heard that he can be difficult, but apparently he's incredibly knowledgeable. He wrote the book, and he is (I believe) the highest paid professor at BC and one of the highest paid econ profs in the nation. Worth the extra work--you'll learn a lot!

Also, if you haven't seen this already, check out this facebook group...

<a href="http://bc.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2339265008%5B/url%5D">http://bc.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2339265008</a></p>

It was created by current BC students to welcome the class of 2011 to campus and answer any questions they may have. There are a ton of Q&A posts, and the upperclassmen students seem to be really helpful and effective in answering the incoming freshmen's questions.
