Proficiency Exam for ERC

so i was thinking about skipping over the whole language courses and going right into the proficiency exam.
I am thinking about doing it in Spanish as i have gone up to Spanish 5 in HS. the thing is it has been about a year or so since i well studied Spanish and while i do remember conjugations and all, i am not 100% confident in my vocabulary.
Can i take the Proficiency exam as a sophomore or something?

You can take the proficiency exam whenever you want. It’s administered by the LISP department. If you can place into a class higher than LISP 1D/1DX or LISP 2A, then your language requirement is done.

yeah you can take it pretty much whenever. but doesn’t that just exacerbate the problem? as you know, you’ll forget a lot if you don’t practice the language. so unless you plan on studying spanish somewhat frequently from now until sophomore year, i would brush up over the next few weeks and take it some time this year. for vocab you can review 4-8 words a day, read some spanish articles, etc. but if vocab is what’s stopping you from taking it asap, then i think you just need to buck down and learn some definitions, because you will def forget even more if you wait another year. just my opinion.

thanks!
actually i am thinking about waiting till next year… the way i have arranged my schedule for classes gives me a lot of free time, soo i could spend a could hours reviewing spanish every week :)

I might take it in the spring, but thanks for all the suggestions!
