On Section M of the Profile (under the family member listing) they ask for parents contribution 2004-2005.. what are they referring to? How much parents paid for their kids high school (i.e.if they went to private school).. surely they aren't asking how much we contributed to RAISE them?? I have no idea what they are looking for - am I missing something easy here? All help would really be appreciated. Thanks!

aren't they looking for what the parents are prepared to pay for college?

You need to fill out this information out for each family member. So for example if you have a brother who is a junior in college for 2004-2005 , you would enter the amount your parents contributed to his college education for this year.

Oh, okay.. so if I did not have ANY kids in college and neither my husband nor I was in college then the answer would be "0" for this correct? But since my D will be starting college in Sept. 2005 I am supposed to fill in what I think we can pay for her college for that year > (actually it would be the 2005-06 school year though that she will be in college right, not 2004-05? so would that be "0" as well?). Sorry, must be thick headed today.

Yes, for 2004-2005 the amount for her would be zero. You enter the amount for 2005-2006 in section F- question 26K and section Q- questions 303 and 304.
Don't feel bad, the PROFILE can be very confusing. I spent several days working on it because I wanted to be sure I understood all the questions as fully as possible.

Thanks so much for your help. I actually had "0" down but kept rethinking everything.. sometimes you can OVERTHINK things I guess. Boy will I be glad when all this is done once and for all. Never imagined all the paperwork and all the unknowns.. guess I will be an expert by the time my second D gets to this point.
