program I heard about at info. session

This past April when I toured NYU, the admissions counselor who conducted the information session mentioned something about a program they have that allows NYU to accept an additional 300-400 students a year, where students go through the first two years taking general classes, and then get an associates degree before continuing on and getting their bachelor in whatever their major is in after four. Does anyone know anything about this?

general studies program. Applicants with High GPa and SAT scores around 1200ish who apply predominately to Gallatin and CAS (maybe a few from the otehr shcools too) get into gsp. After the two years is up, and if they get a 3.0 average, they get put into the shcool of there choice. GSP is takin mostly from ED I believe tho. Also the financial aid is usually worse for this school. You cant apply tp gsp, you just get put in it if your not good enough for CAS or Gallatin, but they think you can get better. Its also known as a money maker for the school, since it has subpar financial aid ( they figure its the best school u can get into, so they dont have to give u money to entice you)

Theres a few people on this board who got into GSP, im sure theyll answer further quesyions.

iheartny27, this link will give you information on GSP. Contrary to what mattistotle posted, GSP students do not "get into the school of their choice" at the end of their two years in GSP. They are only guaranteed entry to the NYU college to which they applied as a freshman applicant.

i thought it was understood that school of their choice meant the school they originally chose..

maybe they would choose a different school after two years. it happens.
