Program strengths and weaknesses

Hearing a lot of buzz re Northern Colorado. Can current/past students or parents comment on your perception of MT program’s strengths/weaknesses (curriculum, support, facilities, instruction, post-graduation career)? Thanks!!

Hello FlaMTD,
I would advise you to read the emphasis-of-training-at-northern-colorado thread as it is still pretty current.
There are a lot of graduates working professionally in theater and they had a very well attended showcase this year. They bring in a lot of New York casting directors/actors/choreographers etc to the program for master classes.
A number of the MTCA kids go there because of the connection of one of their previous coaches. Also it is VERY affordable (I am happily paying Western Undergraduate Exchange tuition rates = in-state tuition + 1/2) as can be seen on the sticker shock page. It is a BA but it is structured very much as a BFA.
As MTdog said: a dedicated student can get everything they need at Northern Colorado.

thanks, alibabba808 - just curious, are you a student, alumni or parent?

Mom of a junior.

@alibabba808 do you think you could double major with MT?

I think you could double major- you can always double major if you don’t mind adding a year or two on. The MT degree is very specific there with the dance/acting/vocal classes, so to get another major outside of the theatre dept you would add a year or two with summer classes. They have excellent professor and great training there.
