Programming for bio majors

Current student here. I'm interested in learning more about computational biology/bioinformatics. I'm not computer illiterate or anything, but I have no programming background and I'm not planning on taking Math 53/54/CS61A/etc.

Does anyone know of any specific courses that wouldn't be exceedingly difficult or that would be worth the workload? It's for fun so I don't want to die.

What about Stats 133?

CS 10 would be the general introduction and overview of CS for non-majors, although it apparently has enticed some students to major in CS.

Statistics 133 and Engineering 7 are computing for statisticians and engineers respectively.

Stats 133 is taught with R, Engineering 7 with Matlab. Both are commonly used in bionformatics, although not as widely as Python. Which is what CS 61A uses.

Thanks, guys! I know for a fact that E7 isn’t my cup of tea, but I’ll check out Stats 133.
