Programming Languages to learn before going to college?

<p>Overall, learn what you want for what you want to do now. The classes you’ll take will force you to learn anything else. If you really want to develop a flash game, stick with ActionScript. I personally wouldn’t recommend that unless you want to go into game development though. </p>

<p>If you’re also able to learn C++, then that’s a great idea. <p>Objective-C, which is a strict superset of C, is similar to C++ in many ways (and one could say different in many). I taught myself it so the biggest difference IMO was the syntax while the concepts were very similar. I like Obj-C more, but C++ is more ubiquitous. (I do iOS programming though.)</p>

<p>Also, I think learning web languages (HTML, CSS, JS, etc.) is smart because they can be easy and valuable. And then maybe you can design websites for $ in the summer.</p>
