Bet you’ve never seen a list that looks like this before! I left out a lot of Pink Floyd because it would just get repetitive
I can certainly see your music preferences in there, haha. Try doing 1 album per artist. Not only does it give you more variety, but it makes you realize how much you’ll need to listen to in order to get 100 albums.
Glad to see Zeppelin in there. That’s where my username comes from.
I probably shoud’ve realized that… Lol
The issue with doing one album per artist is that you miss a lot of really fantastic albums that are better than that of other artists.
That is true, and I had to slowly transition by cutting my Beatles, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, and Led Zeppelin albums down from 4-5 too 3, then 2, and finally 1. Sometimes I use WYWH in place of Dark Side or Kid A in place of OKC, but as you listen to more music, you don’t want your chart to be filled up with those artists’ discographies so that you don’t have room to put new artists into your top 10.
I just got done with a major edit of my chart from positions 31-68 if you care to check it out again.
@Hermit9 I am not a big fan of the Beatles. I don’t dispute the amount of influence that they have had, but they are pop, and their music does not strike me as much different from what is on the radio. Just more intelligent.
What about De-Loused in the Comatorium by the Mars Volta? Have you listened to them before?
@TheWaffleMan149 From Rubber Soul onward was much more than pop. I know you like psychedelic music, so please just do me one favour and listen to Tomorrow Never Knows. It was released in 1966 and features backwards guitar solos, drum tape loops, and lyrics form the Tibetan Book of the Dead. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6a3NcwfOBzQ
If that doesn’t change your perspective of them, so be it. Just give it a chance and I think you’ll open up to more of their experimental work from 1966-1969 (and there’s a lot of it!).
@TheWaffleMan149 Never listened to them.
@Hermit9 I’ll take a listen. I will let you know what I think
You definitely need to listen to them. The only way that I could really explain their sound is a fusion of King Crimson and Led Zeppelin with some Spanish elements. I think their best albums are Frances the Mute and De-Loused in the Comatorium.
Listening to Inertiatic ESP. The instrumental is fantastic. I’ll need to acquire a taste for the vocals, though.
Yeah. The vocals remind me of Robert Plant. Cicatriz ESP is great too. And Cygnus… Vismund Cygnus and Cassandra Gemini (the 32 min one)
Today I’ve been listening to Weezer’s Blue Album and Wire’s Pink Flag.
I’ve heard of Weezer, but never listened to them. Never heard of Wire
Weezer are some quality early 90s alt-rock. Wire is a late 70s punk band.
Now I have Is This It by The Strokes on. Been listening to it a lot recently.
Interesting. I’m listening to Tomorrow Never Knows. The vocals really get on my nerves, but the music itself is alright. I prefer Piper at the Gates of Dawn.
One more: Skip to 4:35 and listen to this outro riff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJ-FsBvz4i8
It’s doom metal.
@Hermit9 I think you found a winner
You liked it?
Yeah. I can’t deny that that riff is pretty darn good
It sounds like something off of Sabbath’s debut imo.
