My college says no open coil appliances are allowed (microwaves, toasters, etc)
I wanted to know if this meant I can’t bring a water boiler? I was gonna use it for cup noodles for when I got hungry

Does your water boiler have an open coil? If not, you should be fine.
If it does have an open coil, is there a kitchen you can use?
Anyway, do you know who your RA is yet? I bet you could reach out to them and get a good answer.
does open coil mean having to plug it into the wall? then yes it is
yes there is a kitchen in our halls, and idk who my RA is yet
No, an open coil means it has an exposed heating element/coil… it’s probably fine.
You can housing and residence life to be sure. An open coil is like a hot plate or toaster oven - you can see the heating element, right? Whereas a George Foreman grill doesn’t have one. So look at your water boiler and see if there’s an exposed heating element or if it’s otherwise a fire hazard.
