Me. Should be interesting how they handle the hosting since Karlie will only be judging a couple of episodes.

Oops, I gave him the wrong Christian spelling!

I may be in. I have to limit what Iā€™m watching but think I could add in one more reality show.

I have to say that I have really enjoyed this trio of judges and am looking forward to seeing them again.

Has anyone else watched the first episode yet? I agree with the winner. How was he able to make three outfits including one in 30 minutes. It must be so hard to be the first one out as you are being judged on only one design without any previous challenge designs that seem to influence judging. There were so many noā€™s for meā€”the lavender ā€œbathrobeā€ and the pink suit with the lattice sleeves.

I saw. I agree with the winner and with the one eliminated. But, and this could just be the edit, Bones came off obnoxiously cocky. Additionally, Darren should also have been eliminated since Bones basically made his garment.

I also felt the lacy if a host in the critiques made that time a bit discombobulated

Thanks for the reminder, I just watched. Iā€™m also ok with the decisions. The person sent home did have an awful outfit. And Bones while a little obnoxious (?) with 2 of the top 3 outfits clearly was responsible for his team winning.

I can see potential for some drama from some of these contestants.

I actually liked the blue puffy ballgown that was considered one of the worst but agree that the purple bathrobe had to go.

When it is a team challenge, itā€™s okay when one team member does all the work, so I donā€™t think ā€˜smoker boyā€™ should have gone home. Heā€™s taking his chances that no one will help him in the future but for a team challenge if the team wins no one goes home.

That was not the brief.

There is a difference between ā€œEach of you must make a garment that ties in cohesivelyā€ vs. ā€œthe 8 of you must work together to create an 8-piece collection.ā€

So was the prompt ā€œeach of youā€ over ā€œthe 8 of youā€? I donā€™t remember.

Probably not specific enough. The task was to create ā€œa cohesive collection of eight monochromatic high fashion runway looks celebrating color" but each designer picked a color.

Not a big deal, because the lavender bathrobe was still the weak link. But Darren should assume he needs to step it up because the others wonā€™t carry him next time, Iā€™m sure.

Right about Darren.

I do wonder if Bones got a bit of a bad edit because

  1. He seemed to recognize early that they NEEDED to work as a team but lacked leadership.
2.His comments to Christian were I think his reaction to #1 - someone needed to act as leader so might as well be him.
  2. If he didnā€™t help Darren their team may have lost - who wants to start with a loss?
  3. He clearly had his outfit - a winning one at that - done early enough (15 mins?!) that he could whip up another outfit for Darren.

I think he was not being bossy but was just trying to be proactive and pull the reins in for his team. We shall see!

While it was a team challenge, the designers were also judged individually.

Lol - ā€œsmoker boyā€.

I disagreed with the eliminated designer - Iā€™ve read all the previous commentsā€¦this was an individual look within a team challenge, and ā€œsmoker boyā€ needed to go home. That dress was not his design, nor did he sew it. The only part of it that was ā€œhisā€ was the fabric choice.

I thought Bones was a bit cocky but I also tend to come across that way (especially in team projects)ā€¦but he pulled off the cocky. Kind of ā€œitā€™s not bragging (cocky) if you can back it up.ā€

For the record I think the ā€œcoat dressā€ was a mess and that designer should also have been sent home.

There were a few audible gasps of joy out of meā€¦that blue balloon dressā€¦it looked expensive and couture - the red street look - holy moly! Stunning, and the model was perfect for it.

I love that there isnā€™t a ā€œhostā€ per se - no need. It felt like Christian has matured a lot during Covid days. He didnā€™t seem quite as full of himself. Iā€™m pleased because I actually like him.

Bring on the next episode!

I donā€™t remember (doesnā€™t mean it didnā€™t happen) contestants being penalized because another designer helped them with their weekly projects, even if it wasnā€™t a group project. Iā€™ve often seen one designer sew for another, lend them fabric or notions, help with the design or fitting. Donā€™t see how that would be different for a group project, itā€™s just one designer helping another. If thatā€™s not allowed, they need to say so - no sharing ideas, materials, labor.

Would it have been better for Bones to not have helped the smoking guy and had the team be in the bottom? I think it is the team managerā€™s job (even if self appointed) to wrangle everyone to the finish line.

ā€œSmoker boyā€ was part of the winning team and not up for elimination. Depending on the rules, he could have been disqualified for not making his own garment but that does not seem to have been the case.
