Ok so if you have any fascinating tidbits of knowledge about reed that you can pass on to me, that would be great. thanks : )

<p>You have excellent grades, good enough for Reed, but it's barely a basis for chancing you. You can see what's important to Reed (and many other schools) by checking the Common Data Set, section C7 (Reed's is at <a href="http://web.reed.edu/ir/cds/cds0809/cdssecc200809.html;%5B/url%5D"&gt;http://web.reed.edu/ir/cds/cds0809/cdssecc200809.html;&lt;/a> google for other schools). Very important is why you want to go to Reed; can you say? Sections C4 to C12 give a profile of the last entering freshman class, helping prospies to chance themselves.</p>

<p>This article describes how students are chosen:</p>

<p>Reed</a> Magazine: Many Apply. Few are Chosen. (1/5)</p>

<p>Have a look, and maybe you can tell us more about yourself. :)</p>

<p>Tidbit: Reed has the only nuclear reactor in the country that is run primarily by undergrads.</p>

<p>1st off thanks for the help.
that link you sent me was really useful.
well i want to go to Reed because i love to learn and not just because i want to make money (although that would be nice!) but because i just simply am curious. Also as much as I love my friends in high school I think I would fit in at Reed because I am well... quirky (I know it's a cliche) but I want to be somewhere where the fact that I spend my spare time reading textbooks or the new Chuck Palahniuk, who is a genius by the way, novel won't be considered weird.
Another reason is that I grew up in a small "alternative" town on the big island of Hawaii, where creativity is celebrated, hippy dances are plentiful, and clothing is optional. I know most people hate where they grew up, but honestly, i can't think of somewhere better and I love that Reed also has that same atmosphere.
Now you might wonder, why Reed? Why not some other liberal arts colleges?
The simple answer is location and alumni.
My grandmother, grandfather (they met at Reed) and 2 cousins have graduated from Reed and loved it. My grandmother actually graduated from their to be the dean of teachers college at Lewis and Clark and my grandfather makes tests for malaria for 3rd world countries.
My grandparents live in Portland still and I really want to have family near by me.
So those are my more personal reasons : )
And more tidbits please!</p>

<p>All those reasons are great, but a huge part of becoming a part of the Reed community is the Honor Principle.</p>

<p>And I HIGHLY suggest reading it and understanding how to live by it before you make a decision.</p>
