projected curve

Am I the only one who thinks math will actually get a curve this time?

Also, what would be a good score range for -2 math, -1 critical reading?

Math Curve (most likely what I think):
54 - 800
53 - 800
52 - 770
51 - 750
50 - 730
49 - 710
48 - 700
47 - 690
46 - 680

Any opinions?

Sounds reasonable to me. The math was very tricky this time, much more than I’ve seen on several previous tests. Then again, the curve has been awful for math this year.

Bump!!! Bump

No… the math was not even close to being -1 800 curve. I have a one test that has that type of curve. The math is much much harder than June.
This will be standard.
-1 770
-2 750
etc…

I took the May SAT and got a 720 in Math for omitting 2 questions and getting 1 wrong. That is a very harsh curve, right? Especially since I did not lose any points for getting wrong answers (since one wrong is rounded down).

I just took this June SAT and I think the curve on Math will be much more generous. Like last time, I omitted 2 this time. However, I don’t think I got any others wrong. What score do you think I will get? Dragooner4 said -2 would be 750, but mine would be higher because I did not lose the point for getting 2 wrong, right?

What about writing?

I felt the May SAT was really harsh as well, I missed 5 questions (2 being grid ins) and got a 680. I’ve heard a general consensus among my high school and experienced SAT takers along with most of college confidential that this math SAT was more difficult, although personally I found it easy with tons of time left over (perhaps a result of my intensive studying since the may date). I think the curve will be slightly more generous, especially considering the June test tends to be the best for curving (as the majority of people take it, qualified or not, whereas the January and March test takers tend to be more prepared and “on top of it”). However, the math tends to be the harshest curve because it’s the easiest to do well on, statistically. I’m thinking it’ll be around:

-1 790
-2 770
-3 750
ect.

Now the writing section is different. I think it’ll be an average curve. The reading was considered MUCH harder this time by nearly everyone, so I think that’ll be a generous curve

I took March. 1 omit — 760. VERY HARSH.

neuromajor, I agree about the math, I think it will be a very generous curve this time. As for the writing, I found it to be quite easy this time. Unlike most people, I had little trouble with the Reading, I got through every question and expect to do quite well.

Not to be selfish, but what do you guys think a -2 Math -1 CR perhaps -1 Writing be?

I thought the math was really easy compared to the first time I took it. I only skipped one question…maybe I just answered questions wrong? lol

xettundead, my style of doing the Math sections is to work through all of the hard problems quite meticulously. Thus, I only answer the questions that I find a unquestionable answer to. This time, in June, I omitted 2 questions. I thought this was a lot. It is certainly possible that you were—unlike me—able to get all one question. However, I do believe that the curve will be quite generous. Probably something like what neuromajor said.

I personally found the math section easy too xettundead. But I am not in the majority, and considering CC is filled with constant 750+ scorers, I trust the consensus here. Emie116, goodness that’s a tough curve. Lets hope that doesn’t happen again! I think the issue with this math section that it was very conceptual, with a lot of theory based questions. I can’t think of a single one that was hard to calculate. For many people who are usually great at math, the theoretical questions can be difficult, as if you don’t see the immediate “shortcut” it can take a significant amount of time to answer. I was lucky in that theory is my strong suit over meticulous calculation, however this isn’t the general case.

Additionally, I had little issue with the writing section or even with the reading, but those are my traditional strong suits with an 800 and 770 respectively, so I’m not the most objective observer.
