Hi,

Im new to this site and this is my first thread. I got a 163 on my psat my freshman year. During my sophomore year, I got a 185 on my PSAT without studying. If I study hard by doing the Princeton Review book and math books, what score do you think I can achieve by the time I have to take the SAT.

I don’t want to call this a stupid question, but the truth is that no one in the universe can predict what you’ll get on the SAT based on this. I have friends with PSATS of 230’s and SAT scores in the 2000’s. I got a 190 sophomore year and got a 2270 on the SAT. It depends completely on how much effort you put into studying. Depending on your competence, you could even be capable of a 2400.

Maybe I should’ve worded my question differently. I meant to ask what the average improvement is from sophomore year to the end of junior year.

If you honestly study I don’t see why you can’t break 2000-2100 on the SAT. Good luck.

The average improvement is between 5 to 10 points. So, you can expect a score between 190 to 195. However, if you prepare just a little over the summer, you could do a lot better. What are your PSAT subscores in Math, Verbal and Writing?

My S had a 46 point improvement, from 173 as a sophomore to 219 as a junior, this year. I believe this type of improvement is rare. However, between 20 to 30 points is more common. So, a score between 215 to 225 is quite likely. On the SAT, you should be some where between 2200 and 2300 at the end of junior year, early senior year.

My scores are as follows:

Critical Reading: 63
Math:61
Writing:61

Sorry for the late answer. @perazziman: thanks for the info.

My sophomore year I got a 196 on the PSAT. My junior year I got a 215. My SAT score was 2110 highest take, 2130 superscore. Data is all anyone can provide; don’t project.

My psat was a 211 and my sat was a 2230. I didn’t study.

In my sophomore year, I got a 193 on the PSAT. After prepping (as everyone should anyways), I got a 221 as a Junior which was really great, considering I hail from the state of Louisiana. After more prepping, I ended up with a 2360 (780, 780, 800 w/ 12 essay). I used the Blue Book and the resources available on this site and just consistently prepped over the years, nothing intensive really. Diligence is the key to the trade.
