Projection Bias from college visits

<p>We toured Carnegie Mellon for accepted students weekend on a very rainy weekend. Umbrellas were included on the tour. It did seem a bit ominous that they were so well prepared! Indeed Pittsburgh doesn’t have the best weather, but every other part of that weekend was phenomenal.</p>

<p>I agree but, just as an aside, - I bought two cars sight-unseen (still have one of them).</p>

<p>And paid way more than a quater of a million dollars for my house almost sight-unseen. This was during the days of intense competitive bidding and we made an offer about two minutes after arriving. </p>

<p>(We did get into a bit of a bidding war but eventually won out. Still in the house with no serious regrets.)</p>

<p>I did not visit by college before matriculating. The setting was not at all what I had imagined. I wonder whether I would have made a different choice if I had visited the school first. . .</p>
