Prom DRESSES. (Pretty much only applies to girls)

I'm going for something like this. I prefer short and simple, yet elegant. Nothing too "poofy" and flashy. xD

^ i lovelovelovelove that dress!!! its so simple and elegant -stole your words, no other way to describe!

I'm soooo afraid of wearing strapless. I always feel like it's gonna fall off and everyone's going to see me naked. =[

some kid said i'm hawt...i guess i am ...

know where we can get cheap or rent prom dresses? I don't have much money.....

wildchartermage, this year I wore a dress from Forever 21 to homecoming. I bought it last year for homecoming but ended up wearing a different albeit more expensive dress from Express (it was $80, which isn't that much for a prom dress). The Forever 21 dress probably cost around $30 and it looked nice. The necklace I wore snagged it in some places, but it's okay because the dress was cheap.

If you do buy a dress from Forever 21 or Macy's or really common stores like that. I'd want to buy it far in advance. The year I bought my $30 dress I saw another girl wearing it, which happens a lot with dresses from inexpensive stores. I'm really glad that I didn't wear it until a year after I got it.

Or you could always scour local thrift stores and the closet(s) of your mother and/or sister(s)! You can find nice stuff for megs cheap sometimes, or, in the case of a family member's closet, 100% free.

^I actually got my prom dress from Forever 21's sister site, Twelve by Twelve. A dress there is more expensive than a dress from Forever 21 (mine was sixty dollars), but it is a little bit fancier. Still, it's a lot less than what most of my friends bought their dresses for.

this dress is hot. i love the style of it

i already got mine. but it's in liquid ruby instead of the liquid charcoal (the one pictured)

Go to thrift shops and/or outlets. If I can find them in Minnesota, you can find them in your hometown (unless you're from Wyoming... haha).

Emp, that dress is absolutely beautiful. I love that site, it has sooo many gorgeous dresses! There was one last year that was extremely similar to the one you posted; it was the most beautiful dress I've ever seen!

I know circumlocution! I LOVE vintage fashion and that site is by fair the best for vintage dresses that i've stumbled upon. But, sadly, my parents won't let me get a dress online for some odd reason-don't think it will fit, worried about buying stuff online...ect :(

like zomg...that is SOOOO fabulous...thats fierce!

:) Sorry I had to...

Chris. You suck. lol. This is not a girly thread; it's an informative one-helping girls find cute things to wear for prom! hehe

:) Well I'm a guy and I can definately help. :) I know what guys like in dresses.

ok well then you know any guy would like my amazing amazingly amazing dress shown in my first post of this sub forum.

ps im not this uber gurly in person. hahaa

Emp, I like it. It really depends on what color your skin is. If your pale like a ghost...Probably not the best choice.

:) Get a tan before you wear it. (Don't go overboard and become orange)

I like the dress though. Not poofy and definately shows skin. :) Guys like skin.

EDIT: I see that it comes in 2 colors. White and Champ. I like white better.

disclaimer: i'm a guy who has been to a few formals in his day.
i like a dress that reveals(and accentuates) the shape of a girl's body, because ultimately it's the female body that guys consider beautiful, NOT flowery doilies and poofy pieces of cloth.

a quick google search explains this

haha oh gosh. i'm sorta pale, but no where near tan. dark brown hair. fail. idk the white looks really kinda ugly. like a wedding.

thanks for the insight man!

the sad part is, rain, i really love the first dress hahahaa i'm not kidding.
