Back to the actual conversation, I’ve been in a bunch of different situations. I’ve been to proms with a boyfriend, my best friend, and someone I only met when he asked me (I go to an all-girls school so this is pretty typical for both the girls and guys). I had a great time with each date. I also had friends who went stag and enjoyed themselves. I think the most important part of having a date is knowing that you will have fun with them - whether you are serious with them outside of prom or not. I also agree with rainbowrose about asking a “reach”… I finally asked my long-time crush this year and he said yes!! SO EXCITED!!

Absolutely make sure that you know you’ll have a good time with a date. I’m probably beating this to death but having a bad date sucks.
