okay so my boyfriend and i are going to prom right? since we're going to both mine and his prom, i'm wearing two different dresses (dont worry, i didnt get both this yr, one is my last yrs dress). But lately he's been talking about getting bowties to match my dress... I dont know what i think of that, esp because one dress is a pinky/salmon, and the other is green. I think the pink would be weird, and the green is a gorgeous green (on a girl) its not a very masculine green so i might have to nix that idea.
also, I dont even know if i want him to wear a bow tie. I've only seen him wear a normal tie, and that was cute but i'm not sure what i think of bowties. And then there is the whole matching thing. Is that cute or dorky? From what i remember of last year none of my friends matched...but i dont know if anyone else did. I really have no idea so any input will be very much appreciated.

Yeah just get a black tie and a black vest. That is the easiest and what I did.

i totally wouldnt mind that, but he mentioned matching a bunch of times. So its his thing not mine...

I was thinking about it too, but just tell him that most other guys won't be matching because they probably won't be. If not, I guess let him match...

I'm sticking with my black tie and vest lol

yeah i dont think many guys match, but i think its cute that he wants to match. Normally the girl is the one who in interested in matching, so i'm probably just going to try to find a somewhat masculine green that will match my dress, and what the hell if he want to wear a pink tie to his prom (i'm wearing the green dress at mine) then I dont care. It'll be funny, and its his friends and his school so whatever.
BCgoUSC: personally i think its cute when ou match, as long as its not over the top...so talk to your date about it.

I love guys confident enough to wear pink ties..

OK,
a. Pink is the hottest color EVER on a guy. Trust me.
b. My boyfriend matched my homecoming dress - except it was a tie. Actually, he did a good job considering I only described the color to him. My dress was a light purple with a pink shimmer in sunlight - and he got a matching tie. Vary hawt. For prom (we're going to his since it's his senior year), I have a very dark purple/burghandy dress, so he's going to try to match his best to it, and he's wearing his vans that are that color. hehe.

At first, when he said we were going to match, I was like "ehh...I dunno" but he wanted to and thought it would be cute, so I tried it. I'm really glad I did. We looked adorable in the pictures (moreso than normal, j/k) and everyone noticed and thought it was adorable. All my friend's parents when we were doing pictures were like "Now, why didn't your date do that?!" It was a lot of fun. :) You should try it. You can always match for one dance and not the other?

it's nice for a guy to coordinate something minor like a tie with his date's dress. As for masculine colors? who cares. Pink was super trendy last season and now purple is the trendy color. I don't think your date will turn gay by wearing a girly colored tie.
