Prom

Is it worth it to give up all social events/friday nights/relationships in highscool to attend the best college possible? I say this because that's the path I've chosen as I intend to skip prom this year to study for the SAT

You’re being ridiculous. It’s not a choice between doing well on the SAT and having a social life, but you’re making it one. There’s plenty of legitimate reasons to not go to prom; the SAT isn’t one of them.

“I plan to skip the prom to study for the SAT”

The prom is the day before the SAT, so it’s pretty much a choice between preparing for it that day and getting a good night rest or enjoying myself for once.

In that case, it’s totally reasonable to spend that night in and get enough sleep for the test. Skipping a dance for the day before a major test is one thing, but giving up “all social events/Friday nights/relationships in high school,” is excessive.

Don’t skip prom. If you’re that concerned with doing well on the SAT then make plenty of time for studying beforehand. Besides, studies have shown that its actually bad to study the day before a standardized test. You could go home after prom, but I highly doubt prom itself will be very late.

(Homage to EC puffery) Go to the prom and claim it as an EC. I think a calling it Modern Dance sounds right?

I say go to prom. If you feel uncomfortable staying out too late, just leave a little earlier to sleep an extra hour or so…

Personally if it was the night before I would choose not to go just in case you can’t catch much sleep. Energy is one of the many things you’ll need whilst taking the SAT.

Wait if you’re taking the SAT does that mean you’re a junior (just not sure, since only seniors go here)? If so, then I would probably skip, or leave early. Being well rested is pretty important for the SAT. I learned this the hard way this year, because I had a dance show the night before.

If you’re a senior though, I would definitely go.
