Prom

Am I the only one without a date so far???

What ever you do, don't take someone as a friend. I did that ten years ago at my prom and have regretted it ever since.

haha....may i ask why?

i dont have a date. sadly, all my friends do. im not planning on going though.

I'm going to respectfully disagree with Joe. Last year (my senior year) I went with a good friend of mine and I had a blast! I didn't feel the pressure I felt at previous dances (having to impress the guy or meet any "expectations"). We goofed off, danced, and had a wonderful time.

Starbury- Did you get a dress yet? That was always my favorite part. Last year my mom saved money all year and surprised me by allowing me to pick out any dress I wanted (within her budget). I'm not a girly girl by any means, but I wanted to be a princess for my senior prom. I ended up with a dress by Tiffany Designs. It was royal blue tule with one beaded strap and flowers and vines beaded in blue all over it, and my favorite part was it was HUGE at bottom I mean REALLY "poofy" (as my friends and I like to say). I didn't really think about how hard it would be to dance in when i bought it, but when I tried it on I knew it was the one because I felt beautiful.

I was also excited because I got to wear heels for my pictures (I always switched to flipflops at the dance for comfort). I'm pretty tall so with heels I was usually taller than all of my dates, but senior year my date was 6'4.

Today I took my dresses from all of the HS dances I attended to a local Consignment Shop. Hopefully, my dress will make another girl as happy as it made me!

-Amy

P.S. If anyone has purchased their dress already I would love to hear about it! Like I said, the dress was always my favorite part.

If your a girl it can be cool to go with a "friend." But for a dude it totally blows nard and makes you look like a layhoo sayher

obviosuly starbury is not a girl

I don't have a date--I'm sad...

If prom is April 16th and spring break is this week, is next week a good time to ask?

the sooner the better. I'm freaking out right now over whether or not I'm going to be asked, and I hate how the boys are taking their time with this...I asked an underclassman last year, and I'm determined to BE asked this time. Except not by this guy who likes me and follows me around (the feeling's not mutual).... that would be too awkward.

the guys actually ask the girls at your schools?
we gave up on that a long time ago and the girls ask the guys to all the dances esp prom.
march 1st is the beginning of "open season" on prom date hunting/shopping even tho prom isnt til may 20th

yes indy, it is

I don't have a date either. Oh well. I'm going to NYC to see a musical instead with some friends. Sounds like it'll be more fun anyway!

I don't have a date yet but I have a gorgeous emerald green halter dress with a rhinestone brooch in the middle of the halter where it connects to the rest of the dress. It is very glamourous but still elegant and kinda cool.

I'm going to prom with 47 girls. pimp pimp

I'm stuck with the dilemma of a dress, I don't want an obnoxious one like those huge puffy ones or the solid bead ones, I want an elegant halter kind of like the one you described, but I don't know I guess I'll have to try a bunch on.

I got asked by a girl last year, and I told her I wouldn't go with her cuz I won't go at all (so that won't hurt her), and yeah i didnt' go

I didn't regret it.

millie05: where did you get your dress? that sounds EXACTLY like what i've been looking for.

don't even get me started on "prama." i've been almost asked twice, but luckily i stopped that both times. i attact not so nice boys.

yea, I still don't have a date. I'm considering asking a guy who goes to another school, but I'd much rather go with someone from my own school. If I went with this guy, I'd have to introduce him around all night and would feel like its my responsibility to show him a good time, and I don't want that pressure. Anyone have any experience with this? So unless someone from school asks me, I might go alone, I don't really know at this point

juliusmonky: I got my dress at debs the website is debshops.com it is on the last page of the sheath style dresses it comes in emerald and orange and it is fairly cheap only about $100. Which is cool.

Last year I had a ballgown that had alot of beading on it. It was gorgeous but word to the wise if you're gonna dance alot the beads are heavy and they hurt your arms cause they rub and that isn't very cool.

Skigurl342, Im in the same situation as you. Though I'm a guy. But like the person from the other school is more than just a friend, but not actually a gf, so.. But like I'd still rather go with her and then just a random friend at my school. I am sure that the guy you would go with would be thinking that HE is the one who has to impress everyone because well, its your prom and he is going for you. So go for it, or, at the least ask a friend at ur school.
