I mean im gay, so i might not be able to relate to everyone here...
but for some people, there isn't that much meaning in sex and they do it just to feel good
i don't think that we should criticize that view because everyone is entitled to their own lifestyle decisions
i think, however, that it does become dangerous when someone NEEDS constant companionship and is unable to live an independent life

i like turtles

I like waffle fries

Ok, this is gonna be the weirdest question-
My best friend who is a guy is super smart- 2300 SATs, class prez- all that jazz - watches porn- eww?
I mean if he's so smart then he should know he's above baser desires like lust and especially sick, DEMEANING PORN? what do you guys think? any of you smarties watch porn? Sorry for being blunt- i'm too straightforward.

^ just because you're smart doesn't mean you're nice and all..the world's smartest people tend to be the sickest too..serial killers and communist leaders for example tend to be pretty smart ..yes its sick...but not ironic.

and did i mention i hate sluts ...walking with a new bf every week..i mean how low can you go? baby bumps and making out in the hallways..seriously guys..grow up..

serial killers and communist leaders

Because communist leaders and serial killers are comparable.

But to the point, I honestly don't understand what is so sick about pornography. I understand if it's something people want to keep away from children, but how can you justify foisting your own ideas about morality (and I'm interested in hearing where those come from) upon others? What's the use in judging someone who may not be following the same moral standards (if you really think pornography is by its very nature immoral)?

But really, what exactly is immoral about pornography? Sex and sexual desire are normal and common to all human beings. There is a difference between watching porn or having sex every once in a while and constantly having sex or watching porn (which I believe is this thread's main intent, as the title is "promiscuity," which I believe implies obsessiveness/quantity of sex, not the existence of a sex life at all). If the issue is amount, then it is up to the person to draw their own limits, because everything can be had in excess (although the morality question is interesting. Is it immoral to overeat, or just a bad idea from a health perspective? Why is having sex different? Is it the fact that someone else is involved?).

Sorry, I'm rambling. Two points:
[ul][]This is not a question of foisting beliefs upon someone else. Who are we to judge someone else for having differing moral standards? We can only expect people to live up to their own in this instance.
[]If you are indeed against watching porn or having sex at all in high school, where do these ideas of immorality come from? What exactly is so bad about it?
[/ul]

Sorry for the rant; I find this thread very interesting.

the question isn't about moral or immoral..that's up to you. but i find the ability to access pornography so easily to be absurd. it nonetheless affects youth today..and people aren't serious about it. likewise, an increase in sexual content stimulates sexual thoughts in teens today. its as simple as that. no right or wrong. just absurd.

Sorry, to clarify:

I was talking about this quotation:
I mean if he's so smart then he should know he's above baser desires like lust and especially sick, DEMEANING PORN?
This question certainly seems to assert that pornography (or "lust") is wrong (or, in their words, "sick" and "demeaning"). That's were the morality comments came from.

I'm totally with Disneyguy on, like, everything.

I don't understand why someone can't be smart AND have human instincts, hirokee. IMO there's likely something wrong with someone who DOESN'T have "baser desires like lust" at this age, heheh.

desi_chick,

Yet it would appear that high school sexual activity has dropped to some degree.

IIRC that was just pregnancies, in which case would be attributed to safer sex, not less of it. I may be wrong, obviously.

MY SEXUAL ACTIVITY HAS GONE UP IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN

(pretend i'm a guy)

lolz. i lol at those kind of people too. its a subconscious thing too. girl i like, they are like the people who you NEVER see going out with a guy. its like. ***? are they lesbian?

You are the worst poster not only on these forums but also on the internet as a whole.

<3

my school is very prude (or at least my academy-ib)...i wouldn't b suprised if some of u posters went there.

If the girl knows what she's doing and admits it freely and isn't looking for some stupid fulfillment in another area of her life and trying to fill her gaps by having sex, y'know, go for it. Sexuality is healthy. Protected sex? Go 'head.

But when people make excuses for it and are trying to fill voids, it makes me ill. Stop being pathetic, thanks.

As for guys, if they're making their intentions clear, go for it, also.

Sex is sex. If you're not being gross about it, I'm happy you're getting some. 'Cause I know I'm not. LMAO.

By the way, those of you yelling about porn? Calm down. I'm a smart FEMALE VIRGIN and I like porn. Get your prude heads out of your prudish bottoms.

^you will make your future husband very happy.

amciw,

I remember reading an article that said that a few surveys of high schoolers suggested that rates of sexual activity (intercourse, maybe?) had gone down. You may be right, though. I'll have to verify my info at some point. In any case, I think we can at least say that things aren't always getting worse as some suggest.

oh LIBERAL BEHAVIOR
