Sorry I keep on forgetting my password to my accounts so have to make a new one. I will remember this password because it is also my school ID password.

Asian, lower GPA, and you don’t have the ECs or test scores to make up for it. Michigan, Notre Dame, NYU, and Boston are going to be somewhat of a reach (with Notre Dame and Michigan probably being the least likely). The rest you have pretty good chances at.

For a kid looking at only business schools you have a weird amount of medical ECs lol.

Notre Dame Mendoza (EA) (Hook- Not Christian?): High Reach
Boston University School of Management: Low Match
NYU Stern (ED): Reach
Boston College Carrol (EA): Not really familiar but probably Low Reach.
Villanova School of Business (EA): Not really familiar with this one.
University of Michigan Ross (EA): High Reach very very very hard to get in Pre Admit, I would suggest applying to LSA and working your ass off freshman year and in school transferring.
Indiana Bloomington Kelley: Safety
Fordham Gabelli (EA): Match
University of Texas McCombs: High Match/Low Reach ( A graduating senior who is attending UCLA applied here with a better GPA and 31 ACT and got rejected so be aware it’s not that easy to get in even with all your EC’s and honors.)
Penn State Smeal: Safety

I feel like you have a nice profile of extracurricular activities. I am going to assume that they are your deeper interests (because why wouldn’t they be if you are dedicating time to them outside of school?). Based on this, it looks you’re looking into the intersection between medical innovation and business, which is a great field to get into and one that you should really tailor your essays around.

That being said, the problem lies with your grades and test scores. Both are low for the higher-end schools you listed like NYU, Michigan, and Boston University. I think you can definitely get into all the other schools you mentioned, as long as you write passionate, thought-provoking essays.

Here’s my advice: For the schools that you most want to go to, don’t apply early. Instead, use first semester to improve your grades and to try for straight A’s. This will put your most impressive academic performance right before college apps. Think about how players in sports, in their contract years, go ham with their effort. It’s basically the same idea. Now, also take the SAT II Math Level 2 (Level 1 might not cut it against your competition) and try to up your ACT score.

You have some good potential. Keep these ideas in mind and put in a lot of effort. Best of luck to you.

If you are interested in Notre Dame then you should know that they are Catholic, not Christian. There’s a difference.

Can you explain all of the med ECs while you are applying to business schools?

I agree with your GPA being low. ACT is a little low, but you can get that up by retaking it.

I don’t think you will get into the more competitive schools because you have a low GPA and you ECs are not focused in your major. I have a friend who had a similar situation. He ECs we math/science and when he applied for business programs he did not get in, but when he applied to a schools CAS (that was just as selective) he was accepted.

If you have any Notre Dame specific questions feel free to PM me.

@picklechicken37 I have quite a few med EC’s because the Med Explorers class was just a try. I am shadowing a physician because he is a really good family friend and I thought it would be interesting getting to see what hospitalists do. I have also applied for some virtual internships regarding marketing and management.

I definitely think you should take the ACT again. This time, make that you take enough practice test. I am not very familiar with the business programs you mentioned, so I am not the right person to chance you. With regards to your EC’s having two different concentration, I think that nowadays, they are very much related. I believe that in BU, one of the sector that the school of management focus on is health and life sciences.

BC: Match
BU: Low match
UMich: Reach
ND: Low reach
Villanova: Low match
Indiana: Safety
Fordham: Safety (But I don’t think they have EA)
NYU: Low reach
Penn State: Safety
UT: Low reach

I think having internship can only help your application. Like I said before, I am not very familiar with business schools. Just looking at college profiles in general, I think the schools you have in your list has at least 2 safeties, (specially EA) - Fordham and Indiana Bloomington. I think the others are match or low reach. If you can raise your ACT to at least a 34, I believe you will have a good chance on all of them.
