I was born in San Bernardino, California and if you know anything about this city then you know its not somewhere you want your children to grow up in. The city has a high crime rate with many gangs that still to this day dont seem to improve. My father knew that but it was the best he could provide at the time. He has told me numerous times that his main goal in life is to see me and my siblings be successful with a reliable job to live a good life. With the hard work and determination of my father, he saved up enough money to move to Bellflower, California. We lived in an apartment in a decent area with the occasional robbery or crime. Well he wanted more and with just three years, he decided to buy a house for us to grow up in. The house was perfect with a backyard big enough for our dog and fruit trees to enjoy. I now know that he did a lot in a short amount of time to give us a better life. With the recession hitting my father and losing his job, he went into foreclosure. My father was upset but didnt see it as the end of the world. Within a couple of days of getting the final exit notice, we moved into a condo. He got lucky enough to find a great job and things started to get better. He has been working hard for about three years now and is now currently in the process of buying a new house in Corona, California.
I dont think many people have the mindset of my father because it takes the average person six years or more to be able to buy a house again. Now that Im older and see how hard my father works for the things he is devoted to just inspires me to be like him someday. As the years are passing, my goals and aspirations are becoming clearer and clearer everyday. I want to be able to graduate college and get a good job to someday repay my father for all his hard work because I know there will be a day that he wont be able to work anymore.
He tells me to this day that he doesnt expect anything from me but I just see all he has done for me and my family. I have learned from his mistakes and success that you can never go anywhere without hard work or determination. They have been the best guide to reaching my goals and aspirations that will lead me becoming the person I want to be.

**I feel like this essay isn't very good and should start over just because I don't think it's that good of a message to have colleges look at but I could be wrong so look forward to your feedback. Thanks!
