Of these two math programs, what level of math should one be before attempting to attend one of either? Calc?

Cal? No way...

These programs are for problem solving and interesting mathematics

like number theory at PROMYS

I think PROMYS has some problem sets for you to do on the application. If you can tackle those, you'll be fine.

Not sure about ross, can someone enlighten me about ross?

Ross, from what I have heard, is similar to PROMYs. Here is a link:

Thanks for help!

Sorry to bump this but I had a quick question. In relation to each other, how prestigious are they to get into? Is this the correct order?

MathCamp

Ross, PROMYs

SUMAc, HCCSiM

Did I forget any decent Math programs?

Did you forget any?

Just MOP, but that was pretty obvious......

Any other opinions?

Dude there's like none left.......

Well, the question of a comparison of quality/differences/prestigiousness between the multiple programs has still been left unanswered.

MathCamp, Ross, PROMYS ,SUMAC, HCCSiM

They are similar in "prestigiousness" or, at least, they are all pretty well-established and known.

They are, however, very different. I can speak for Mathcamp because I went. The others I know only through reputation/friends/information they provide. From my understanding, Ross and PROMYS are based on number theory (for the majority of the participants) and provide an extensive study of the subject. SUMAC and HCSSIM I believe use more of a class system (with several choices). Mathcamp has classes as well, but really an enormous variety of classes (as in, nearly 50 different ones, of varying lenghts and difficulty.)

Thanks for the answer tetrohedr0n!! It helps alot.
