Why are some words pronounced different than they normally should be? Example; irreparable is said "ir-rep-uh-ruh-bull" rather than "ir-repair-uh-bull". Who allowed the former pronunciation to work? I think it should be the latter. Because repair is said like rip-air.

How do you pronounce adversary? Adver-sir-ee or Add-ver-sary? Is it both ways.

And my law professor pronounced recognizable like "reckcog-nizz-uhbull". Isn't it "reck-uhg-nize-uh-bull"?

Any other pronunciation issues you have, say them here, but answer these first.

Add ver sary, reck ugh nize uh bull,
i think people are just trying to be more sophisticated or theyre trying to annoy you.
I hate when bag is pronounced baeg.

(((hello))) its called "Tongue stressing" Some people are just too lazy to stress certain words with their mouths. If you haven't noticed some words that you say leave you exhausted after you say them. Unless you have the energy, Im sure you would never say For-get it....you just fuh-get it...the roll that your tongue makes when pronouncing the "R" takes up energy and some people just don't want to deal wit that. Including me

I live in MN, and everyone here pretty much pronounces bag as "bayg", but when I go to camp, everyone (from IL) makes fun of me, because they all say the "a" in bag the same way you say the "a" in bat.
