Do we have to provide proof of the EC's we list? I live outside the US, and here universities require certificates to prove u actually did something. Do US colleges require the same? Or do they base it off of trust?

No proof of an EC is required. However, if you have been heavily involved in an activity at your high school, your teachers (or guidance counselor in their SSR) might comment on it. My son was given a copy of one of his recommendation letters and, as part of the letter, his teacher basically re-enforced his commitment and passion for his EC’s. So, bottom line: tell the truth, as you never know what your teachers or GC might write.

If it’s small (captain of the X team for junior year and senior year), it really won’t matter nor will it assist you. Thus colleges don’t care.

If it’s big (national competition winner as captain of X team), then it might make a difference and is easily checked.

tell the truth.

Obviously im not gonna lie, i was asking so i know whether to semd my certificates or not

There’s no need to send in your certificates.
