Firstly, I emailed admissions…

Dear Rising Senior (which is what I use for my anonymous email address),

We understand that much speculation goes on in college admission forums on the net, and we urge you to not read into the rumors and theories too much. The request of first quarter grades does not mean that a student will definitely be deferred, admitted, or denied; we read every application carefully and review many pieces of information about an applicant. Admission decisions will be released on December 13th at 5PM EST.

Best wishes,
Brown Admission Office

Secondly…
I talked to my guidance counselor today. In my school, 3 people applied ED to Brown. All three were asked for their progress reports. One of them stands a chance approaching 0 of getting into Brown because his average is ~10 pts lower than mine w/no stellar ECs, and he’s asian.

Rainbowrose,
I asked my counselor and she told me…THEY MEAN ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
She actually called Brown admissions and asked them, and they said “IT MEANS NOTHING, we call students from certain schools whose quarter end at a certain time.” So everyone who applied Brown ED was called, regardless of stats/ECs. They were called based on when their quarter ended, and nothing else!

I meant everyone who applied Brown ED from one school. If that school was called, everyone from that school’s progress reports were asked for! So in that essence, THEY MEAN NOTHING! Relief.

So then you agree @tothetop :P

LOL that answer is soo vague. It is neither a yes or a no. lol at Brown covering itself

“The request of first quarter grades does not mean that a student will definitely be deferred, admitted, or denied”

how is that not a no? Stop speculating just to speculate. This is why people don’t like CC. Just wait until Monday. Odds are we’ll all be deferred anyway and if not, great, or we get rejected right away instead of waiting four more months.

Well as a current Brown Student I know people who got in ED who got a call and I got in ED and my counselor did not receive a request. So it means nothing.
