Proof that even with Affirmative Action, you're not guaranteed

I found this kid on the "past results" thread. He has a couple of hundred posts, so he's most likely legit.

Yes, he got into HYP, but he was also rejected from MIT, Columbia and Stanford. Proof that no matter how appealing you are, you can always get rejected by the most competitive schools (basically: HYPMS, Columbia, Caltech)

i saw that one; i thought he made a fake decision thing, then started posting afterwards?

"Yes, he got into HYP"

Yes, it proves that with Affirmative Action, you're not guaranteed. Hilarious post, by the way.

Lol yeah look at the schools he got accepted to........

60% acceptance rate among HYPMS. What were you trying to say again?

(don't get me wrong: he's highly qualified regardless of race but I don't think his profile proves anything)

hmmm, i'm not even sure affirmative action would be a factor in this case. this kid has stats that are equal, if not better than many white applicants and this kid apparently came from the ghetto. based on his stats he is amazing. so AA would not even be "needed" here. if he had chosen not to indicate race, i wouldn't be surprised if his results were the same.

Affirmative action for this applicant would be the same as it has been since the Bakke decision--race can be one of many factors in admissions considerations--that's all it is. aff action doesn't help african americans enormously these days, as we see from this absurd case of rejection from stanford, etc.

ye seriously, ok you're not gauranteed. So that only means he doesn't have a 100% chance, but only a 60% chance. That's still amazing and it shows URMS have a significant boost in the application process

HelloI'mKatie: Look at the past decision threads for the Ivy Leagues and tell me that minority status doesn't give a big boost to an application.

P.S.: I'm still pretty sure this is fake.

the other 3 probably just thought he wouldnt come...also, nobody ever said minorities with great stats were guaranteed...just that they were way better off , which this also shows

how'd this kid get a 5 on ap psych before taking the class? this is fake in all likelihood

self study?

People self study all the time. I am not saying it's not a fake, but either way, AA does not guarantee you anything.
