Nooooooo! Extremely anecdotal evidence of a smart guy who didn’t go to Harvard has ruined my dreams! What have I been working for these past three years? Maybe I should just end it all…

I’m saying that this guy was a super smart guy, yet he didn’t choose harvard.
Many people choose it cause of the prestige. He went to the university of south alabama

The whole point is that you should pick a college that is a right fit for you.

And anybody who puts ALL their eggs into the Harvard basket is a MASSIVE moron.

This is one guy out of how many million ivy league rejects.

1] This isn’t proof. This is evidence.

2] Not only that, this is misleading evidence. Where’s the data suggesting his current outcome had he attended Harvard University?

I’m not a die-hard Harvard guy. But I think you’re being rather stupid.

Who says he got rejected?

If you’re not going for prestige you’re going for

-World class education
-Great student body
-Location

But there are probably a couple more colleges that MATCH your criteria

Pretty sure soyeah was being facetious.

You’re saying because a child prodigy didn’t attend an Ivy, that automatically makes them all overrated. No other factor - nothing else to back you up - except an anomaly, an exception. I don’t think you can make such an absolute declaration based on that alone. Sure, it does show that it’s completely possible for a genius to not be involved in the Ivies, but I think it’s unfair to say they’re overrated solely for that reason.

And then there’s this: have you considered that maybe the Ivies wouldn’t consider him because he was so young? Sure, he could have been a genius, but sheer intellect isn’t everything. He just might not have been ready for that intense of a college experience - I’m talking about emotional and social maturity. And then there’s the chance that he decided the Ivies weren’t even right for him, so he just didn’t apply. Or maybe they approached him and he declined.

I’m not saying this kid isn’t incredibly impressive - he definitely is. I just don’t think you should write off some of the best schools in the nation (hype or no hype, they have that reputation for a reason) because of a prodigy. They’re the ones that break the mold and defy statistics - so I can’t imagine taking their actions and basing such a strong, generalized statement on them.

1] This isn’t proof. This is evidence.

I’m not a die-hard Harvard guy. But I think you’re being rather stupid.

His outcome would have been the same or Worse.

Success= Determination and passion. Not Name Brand.

I agree.

No. And no again.

I think we’re being ■■■■■■■. Look at his post history.

Or maybe I’M right and you all are wrong

Why don’t ya URBANDICTIONARY college confidential :

Right, because we rely on a website created by humorless teenagers and old men who wish they were teenagers to validate the lack of facts in our opinions.

On a side note, I took a class by a professor that taught him (:
I would talk to my prof outside of class a lot, and one day s/he brought him up, comparing me to the kid (positively). hahaha this is too odd.

I heard that Jesus didn’t go to Harvard. So, therefore Harvard is overrated. Oh I understand now! Such flawless logic.

The logic here… I don’t even…

This is what we call [Insane ■■■■■ Logic](http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/InsaneTrollLogic).

It’s a sad fact that Ivy Leagues are NOT overrated. This is not because Ivy League schools provide a better education than every college in America, but it’s because people are so incredibly narrow-minded that the name “Harvard” on a college transcript will open up doors in the job market that barely a handful of colleges in the world could do. An Ivy League opens opportunities that would otherwise be closed, but they are by no means the “best schools for educational preparation”. A genius like Michael Kearney already possesses the quality to open up doors for himself so he simply doesn’t need an Ivy League, while the general population probably does if they want a quick and “easier” start in their respective fields.
