I am taking an introductory Anthropology class and I am incredibly dissatisfied with the content of the course. The professor has used the entire semester to rail against capitalism and make base and puerile attacks on conservative people / thought. I am horribly offended and have gotten into confrontations with this professor in class. Do I have any recourse?

it happens a lot at michigan. A lot of left wing pinko commie libertards in the professor ranks, especially in the social sciences. You’d think with Michigan so close to detroit they would have seen first hand how unions and liberal politics destroyed a once proud, productive city and would know better.
I always confront them and embarrass them in class with facts/logic, and just threaten them with the grievance process if they dare retaliate in grading; since I took most of these classes pass/fail I didn’t really worry that much, so maybe it’s different for you.

Every school has some of these. Unless they are very new on campus, you can be certain their department heads and deans know all about it, so complaints won’t go anywhere. The system is rigged against you. If you try to make waves, you are wagering your grade against the weak possibility of some silly satisfaction that won’t buy you a cup of coffee.

My advice is to just ignore it. Do more research on future professors before registration. This is exactly the kind of thing students complain about on ratemyprofessors.com so check there first. It’s not perfect, but it’s a start.

Wasatch Writer is dead on.

Yes, Wasatch Writer is dead on indeed. I used to be a prof. Everyone in my department was like that.
They gave classes general names to please the parents but taught what they wanted. Although I did not always have a problem with the liberal content, I had a problem with the fact they covered it up. It was a private school 20 years ago, NOT UMich, but you find liberal profs everywhere. Get used to it, learn to play the game. Get a good grade and make up your own mind. You have to put up with all kinds of people in life.
