I can’t say that I’m really surprised by this. I just wish my salary would go up by comparable percentages.
I guess our scholarships doesn’t go up when they increase the tuition?
A BK Scholarship may increase, but the FinAid Office should be able to tell you for sure.
Update from the DBK,

Below is a link for the petition mentioned in the article.
Thanks for posting the link to the petition, terpmom! It seems to me at least, that it is a little too convenient that they waited until after May 1st when the incoming students had to commit to make this announcement. I can’t help but wonder if this business strategy of waiting until after the May 1st deadline to hit students with large price increases will be included in their business ethics class.
@terpmom7, do you know if you have to be a current student to sign the petition?
@davenmame, that is a good question. I’m really not sure if you have to be a current student or not to sign the petition. I signed it. Hopefully it will count. The DBK article says this increase is only for juniors and seniors. However I believe the actual language says after 60 credits. For my daughter and many others, this is by the end of freshman year because of AP credits. If this is true, it stinks even more for those kids.
I’m hoping that I’m wrong about the 60 credit part. That is what a friend told me, but it seems to clearly say junior and senior year.
Something tells me that you are correct in that it will be after 60 credits - that way they’ll make more money longer. I’m thinking I may encourage my son to try and finish in 3 years to make up for the price increase. Not sure how he will feel about that though.
