"Kids can drink there at such a young age, and they don't really abuse it as much as we do."

-not true, oh not true. if someone is apt to abuse alcohol they will. i know plenty of kids around my part back in europe that have been in near-if not complete-comatose states because of blood alcohol poisoning. having an 11 year old order some vodka next to you at a bar is also not the most attractive site.
-in fact, the problem of younger teens abusing alcohol just because they can got to be such a problem in certain areas that concerned parents sued local pubs to check the ages of the consumers and not allow anyone under 16 (quite modest) buy alcohol. (cut off was 16 because the majority of the kids having problems were a bit younger)

*however, I believe that if one wants to destroy their neurons, hell, let them. also, if one simply wants to lower inhibitions, why not let them? i'm for it :)

sorry... i just realized we moved on from the topic 800 years ago proceed...

Handsonthedash- They DEFINITELY don't have In-N-Outs in MI. Sheltered yet again by living in the Midwest. ;)

Oh, and skiing is incredible - it's so much better than boarding (having your feet stuck together is just no fun!). Where do you usually ski?

Me too, Fiesta, most definitely. Besides the fact that it'd be nice to have a glass of wine with dinner.

hands, you sound tasty! let's see a pic haha

Wow, it's great to know that there are so many skiers here! I love nordic skiing, and alpine is okay. I've been following the Junior Nationals in Truckee pretty closely; I wish I was there.

In biology class, my teacher was making some reference about the biological effects of alcohol. He stopped in the middle of his lecture and asked how many people in the class (about half juniors, half seniors) had had never had a beer. About 1/4 raised their hands. He then asked how many people had never had alcohol. Only I raised my hand. I don't know how I felt - left out? Proud? Clean?

In retrospec, it wasn't nearly as interesting as his sex + experience lecture of a few weeks ago.

hahaha oh my gosh, i love skiing so much. my parents are both from Moscow, so it's like in my BLOOD lol. i've been on the slopes since I was 3, and there are few things that give me as much a natural high as when i go off a particularly nice jump and soar through the air, cold all around, nose and cheeks red, hair all messy...GOD i love it. I am so Dartmouth material haha.

that's so odd, we just had a discussion in Bio the other day about why beer makes people urinate so much, and it has to do with this hormone, ADH...someone suggested we do an experiment involving this, and this lead to the idea to have a "Bio Kegger" hahah

blur,

considering your little episode on this board a while back, I think they'll keep the drinking age in vermont where it is on the likelyhood you'll be draggin you a s s accross the conneticut river at 2:00 in the morning headed to you computer.lol

Haha I sure hope they lower the drinking age. I'm 18, I can buy alcohol here, and it's so much more convenient being able to buy it legally. I would be bummed if all of a sudden I were restricted to frat beer.

lol. Kal, i swear, i'm really innocent most of the time. parties are very 'once in a while' for me, i've been known to spend saturday nights at home reading or just driving around town with a friend, and like doing those things just as much. i don't need to be drunk off my a s s to have a good time lol

ETA: besides, since i skipped a grade, i won't be 18 till february of freshman year! lol

hey blu thanks. if you really want a pic, you can check out my photos page.

http://photos.yahoo.com/handsonthedash
or my old site http://www.geocities.com/handsonthedash

wow, I'm over a year older than you blu. thats wierd.

whoever asked about skiing...I ski at Dodge Ridge ("closest snow to home" lol) or if i have a whole weekend to be gone, Tahoe.

i know, isn't it? one guy in our grade was left back, he was 19 while i was 16, and we were both seniors.

many juniors are also older than me, and it cracks me up when juniors give me rides home bc i haven't gotten my license yet! lol

haha i stand by my earlier judgement: tasty.

your friends look like they're so much fun! and that is one ENORMOUS pig, wow lol

I agree with blur - you are good-looking, hands. Yay for hot Dartmouth boys (to correspond with all the gorgeous D girls, right, all?)!! :p

In the first album, is that how you and your friends normally dress (this isn't in a judgmental way, I was just wondering if it - http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/handsonthedash/detail?.dir=b630&.dnm=d57f.jpg&.src=ph - was a California thing?) You all look like a fun group.

I was the one who asked about skiing - I was wondering if you had ventured out to Utah. My family takes ski trips out to Park City, and Deer Valley is a marvelous skiiers-only paradise; somewhat upscale and totally worth it not to have a perpetual fear of snowboarders. You know when you hear that crunching as they come down the hill behind you? FEAR.

your pictures are very fun, hands...I just had to point something out on your geocities page that's killing me...it should read "Whitney and me" not "Whitney and I"...

wow, that probably came off really b*tchy. i apologize.

oh man graci, thats funny. sorry for not noting things. I don't dress like that normally. Like right now I have an express polo, some quicksilver shorts, and Reef flip-flops (Rainbows suck...)

Thats at our athletic league leadership conference. The dress up was just school spirit themed. that girl's a ***** in that photo. the second album is my friend Dianne's debut. Its sorta like a quincenera or a cattilion (we don't have those out here so i spelled it horribly wrong). Yeah, at every big Filipino thing, there is a roast pig. I still can't get over thinking about Lord of the Flies whenever I see it. and the third album is of a rally. that

nah, i've never been to utah and actually have only skied on the nevada side of the Sierras at Heavenly when you can ski in both states.

haha thanks blu. yah, we're a fun bunch. i'm sad thinking about them. but now i'm going to the beach with a couple of 'em. haha i'll add pics from the trip later. OOOOO I think we're hittin up Bubba gump, where its always my birthday lol. Last time some old Swedish tourists tried to buy me beer for "my birthday", stupid waiters....

bird, don't worry, i actually was going to add something to the rest of that, but i decided not to. i'll change it. i'm used to people correcting my grammar, so its not *****y at all.

You're going to the BEACH? Okay, maybe there are some good things about California...

i*

grumbles, glares outside where it's snowing

haha yes, jealous of beach.

LMAO, i also thought of Lord of the Flies.

and i LOVE Bubba Gump Shrimp Co, that food is so good.

graci - hell yes to hot D boys lol

Oh man, when I went on my tour, there were so many gorgeously preppy-in-the-outdoorsy-way guys wandering around campus. Amazing, that.

blur, we're going to be in heaven... it'll be like a four-year dessert tray - you know, when you go to a restaurant, can't decide, so you sample everything from the tray? Right. :p

hahahah woooow that sounds amazing...now all i have to do is get in. lol.

hands, your school colors are Dartmouth/Slytherin lol

gracilisae,

where are you from in Mich?

I did two summer internships at Umich Ann Arbor and I love Ann Arbor.

I'm from Grosse Pointe, a suburb near Lake St. Clair (also near Detroit). I was just at UMich Ann Arbor yesterday for an admitted students' campus program; it was pretty hard to stay focused when I knew there was no way in h-e-double-hockeysticks ;) I was going to attend there over the D!

Actually, I really dislike Ann Arbor, lol. Anyway, what sort of internships were you doing?
