Pros and Cons of GSP

Does anyone know how hard the classes are in GSP? Will it be difficult to have the requisite 3.0 or higher GPA?

no way i have a 3.775

If you work hard, like you're going to have to in any college, it won't be difficult.

I guess what I'm trying to ask is, are the GSP professors unreasonably hard with grading homeworks, tests, etc. as they are said to be in other universities like Cornell.

I'M SO EXCITED!!!! I got in!!!

To me it just seems that us GSP admittees are pretty lucky--we got into the school we wanted when without this GSP, we'd have been chucked. My best friend was in the GSP her freshman year and from what I hear, it's about as challenging as the AP classes I've taken at my high school (all but one were pretty damn hard, but in a good way, you know?). So--we're going to get a degree from NYU but our freshman year will be easier than a regular CAS student? Psh. Sure! :)

I would be extremely unsure about this GSP thing if my friend hadn't said that most of her professors were AMAZING; her descriptions made her classes seem all very interesting.

If anyone wants to get freak-out-excited with me, my sn is jaimelajolie. :) :):)

What courses are you required to take in GSP? And what if you have AMAZING[I mean really stellar] everything but an average GPA?

GRG, your gpa is the single most important factor in a whole long list of factors in admissions to NYU.

Alrighty then....

So tell me something about 60%[ruffly] of your acceptance hinges on your GPA?

It's impossible to quantify it as a percentage but the first thing they look at, and which is overwhelmingly the most important thing, is your gpa and the difficulty of the curriculum you took. NYU recalculates gpa using only the core courses, from your transcript.

They also compare your grades with the average SAT score and GPA from your graduating senior class as well as your own AP and SAT scores to determine how much each "A" is actually worth. A 3.0 from Phillips Academy is easily worth more than a 4.0 at some random public school.

listen I'm in GSP now. its really cool and not that hard at all and teachers are easily accessible. there isn't a stigma attached to it anymore, most students here don't even know what it is. You say GSP and they think Gallatin and you correct them. I have a 3.7 in GSP and GSP rocks. You take all required class freshman year unless you're pre-med or transferring to stern
