Pros and Cons of Ithaca

I was accepted to Ithaca with a fairly good scholarship, but was also accepted to my top choice with less money. Just to get an idea, what are the pros and cons of Ithaca? I have never been able to visit..

what is your top choice?

Well, I am attending ithaca this fall and have mixed views of the campus. One thing that is GREAT about the school is their amazing school of Communications, and their small class sizes. What is your major? If you are going into Park, that in itself makes the school worth it. Their newspaper has won countless awards, their TV show is entertaining, and their radio show won the MTV award for best college radio station. Also, in the Park school, your classes will have around 12-25 students. That ensures attention from your professors!
The only turn offs for me were things regarding the campus/area. The entire campus is on a hill. To go from the Park school to the terrace dorms, you have to go up 200 stairs…which is miserable in the winter(granted, they are spaced out, so it isn’t completely terrible). Also, you need to be use to the cold weather that is symbolic of Ithaca, haha.

My daughter chose Ithaca over many other schools and loves it. The Park school is fantastic as KsP says. She loves the mix of kids in her dorm and most of the classes and profs. Not so in love with the weather, but worth it.

Like halopower said, what is your first choice? And your major? Ithaca’s really good in communications more so than other areas but it’s a very solid undergraduate institution overall. A lot of it comes down to preference but the size is nice (not too big, too small), the class sizes are usually small, the campus is nice, and the town is a quintessential college town (what with Cornell on the other side).
