<p>I recently got accepted to NYU which I didn't expect, but now it has complicated my college selection. I was just wondering if there's anyone on this board that's been to NYU and can give me the pros and cons of it?</p>
<p>Do you need a lot of financial aid? If so, did you get enough financial aid (the general consensus is that that is unlikely at NYU unless you get one of its big merit scholarships)?</p>
<p>NYU is a great school in Greenwich Village. We know a lot of students who love it. But my S decided not to apply there because after visiting NYU, he felt that he wanted to be on a traditional campus for his undergrad years – but that is just a personal preference – what is a “con” for one person can be a “pro” to another – it just depends what you want. And yes, NYU has a reputation for not giving out great financial aid, but maybe that won’t be an issue for you.</p>
<p>I don’t need a ton of financial aid, but I could definitely use it. However I am expecting to not get any given NYU’s reputation and my financial situation.</p>
<p>I guess mainly my biggest questions about it would be concerning the campus atmosphere, student friendliness, and class difficulty. Also if anyone knows details about the accessibility to internships, that’d be great too.</p>
<p>What are your parents actually saying to you? Are they SAYING…“We will pay $60k per year for you to go to NYU.” ??? </p>
<p>If so, then money won’t be an issue. :)</p>
<p>However, if you havent’ heard them actually say that, then ask them. They may be thinking that you’ll get some kind of award and their contribution will be something like $30k per year.</p>
<p>The cons of NYU (I think) are:</p>
<p>1) no real campus…
2) lack of cohesive feel for a student body
3) If you’re not in Stern or some kind of performance/film Tisch kind of major, I don’t see the point of going there.</p>
<p>Pros: NYC, Networking, good grad programs (depending)</p>
<p>Cons: No Campus, Lack of financial aid.</p>
