Can parents and students in the know tells me the pros and the cons of this school?

As an alum of Quinnipiac (Class of 2004), let me pass along a few pros and cons, in my opinion. I hope these help you.

Pros: Beautiful campus; fantastic resources; great professors who truly do care about their students, who know their students’ names, who meet with students one-on-one outside of class, who encourage their students, etc.; great sense of community. I mean, honestly, how many schools do you know where the professors and administrators serve a holiday turkey dinner to students the week before finals? Honestly. To this day, I am still in touch with many of my professors. Quinnipiac students have a great connection to the university, even after graduation.

Cons: The cons of Quinnipiac are ones that you’ll hear at many other schools – not enough parking, housing, etc. Let me address both, and full disclosure, I graduated 5 years ago, so things may have changed. Parking first. Not much to say about this except that you’ll experience that at any school. You will find a spot. It may take a few extra minutes, but you’ll find a spot. Housing. Yes, as a freshman, you are likely to have 4 people to a room. You deal with it. It’s not ideal, but the glass-half-full people say, well, there’s a chance you’ll get along with at least one of your roommates if there are four! The glass-half-empty people, well, I prefer not to talk about them.

Bottom line: Quinnipiac is a fantastic school. Not only did I love the academics, but I loved the setting. I know that campus aesthetics aren’t everything, but it helps! I’d rather be learning on a beautiful campus than an ugly one. But maybe that’s just me.

Good Luck!
