Pros/Cons of Apartment/Dorming?

I'm an in-state student and I'm considering either dorming at UW or apartmenting. The thing is, 3 of my close high school friend want me to apartment with them, as some of them are going to UW while another is going to Seattle U. Thus, we would have to find a place in between both schools, which would mean I would have to commute sort of... If I dorm, I would probably just get a random roommate, which is kind of exciting. What are the pros and cons of either of them, including price? Right now I'm leaning towards dorming. Please be specific!

Really, there isn’t much question that having an apartment is much better. It’s cheaper, generally, and if you budget well, you can keep your food costs down to a pretty small number. The only advantages of dorming is that you will definitely meet people (that is, so long as you don’t get assigned to Steven’s Court. In that case, you are spending a ton of money, and you won’t meet anybody), and it’s convenient for getting to class and going to the library, etc.

To me, HFS is just a system that preys on ignorance.
