I'm thinking of attending FSU but what are the pros and cons? Oh and are people friendly and nice? Thanks!

Pros: Beautiful people, tier 1 university with solid academics and great professors, fantastic recreational facilities, decent dining establishments on campus, bus system that also runs at night during the fall and spring, FSU football and other sports (won the ACC in basketball, top 5 consistently through much of the baseball season), party scene that really never gets old.

Cons you ask??? I sadly must graduate eventually.

There is a lot more to FSU than the superficial reasons. Beautiful people? That’s subjective, plus it’s a school with a huge population you will obviously find nice and notso nice looking people…but again, that’s subjective.
Parties…FSU is more than a party school, why would anyone be proud that there Uni is basically known as a party school?
Tier 1 isn’t a big deal as a majority of major universities are Tier 1 as well.
Anyway.

Pros: The school is respected, the campus is appealing, there are A LOT of things to do on campus. It does not cater to a specific kind of person/group. There is something for everyone here. There are a lot of things on campus and in Tally in general that are free for FSU students. So far in my experience I have found majority of the people to be quite friendly and easy to talk to. Football season is big here, of course so that is also a big pro.
Cons: Some of the frats/sororities take themselves too seriously and don’t like it when others want to have fun. Too many schools in the city, so it gets kind of crazy. Traffic can suck, finding parking is a pain, it can be kind of sketchy going out late at night if you’re not with a decent sized group.

Overall I’d say the pro’s outweight the cons. It’s a great university…academically and socially. You have to visit it yourself and get a feel for it before making you’re final decision.

Why you hating on my pros?
Beautiful people is true
Never said FSU was a party school, but I apologize that I enjoy socializing like a normal college student…

Pros: College education, in an area that clearly interests you since you’re considering the school.

Cons: It costs a bit of money to go to FSU.

I don’t get threads like this, because the “pros” and “cons” are going to be different for everyone. Something I think that sucks about the place might be something someone else finds awesome.

What are you looking for in the college you attend?

@sid that’s fine that you enjoy the party scene, but every college has a party scene so it isn’t worth putting as a “pro”. Also I’m just tired in general of people talking more about the party scene on campus than the other great things this campus have to offer.
I like to socialize as well like most college students, but you can do that at other events that don’t involve partying it up. I’m too old to be partying with kids anyway, lol.

The Princeton Review always likes to label it as one. I really don’t know what gives them authority. I’m sure they surveyed all ~30,000 students.

I think it’s a carry-over from the 1990s, when FSU earned this reputation.

Gotcha. I don’t mind there being a party scene. It is, after all, an integral part of college social life. I just think it’s lame when people attribute stereotypes to schools, especially large ones like FSU.

Oh another con…no wifi in basically all the dorms and on-campus apartments.
