Pros/Cons of Hamilton

I really loved the campus on my visit, but the town seems really lacking in excitement. And the nearest WalMart being @ 25 mins away? How does that effect opening day stuff when you're trying to go get supplies? Any current students wanna throw out the good and the bad about living in a rural place?

Keep in mind that you will have a rental car with your family when you move in. Unless you have a truly unique social life, WalMart should not be the measure of a college town.

Everything that you need from Walmart can legitimately be found at Perry's or the bookstore. It's NICE not having a Walmart nearby, Hamilton has been able to keep big chains outside of the village lines which helps promote a much happier local community.
I see how it's easy to visit Colgate and see the town as "lacking in excitement" but I think if you talked to the students they'd say "98% of what you'd want is there".
