what are the pros and cons of psu - u park
also, how is the premed?

In comparison to what other school?

Pre-med program is good, but you can major in anything and apply to med school. The pre-medicine major tends to weed out a lot of people. I read a stat on PSU Eberly College of Science website that 60% of those that apply in any major at PSU get accepted at least one school. This is well above the national average of 40%.

Pros: Great Sense of Pride & Tradition, Great Networking Opportunities, Great Academics, Beautiful Campus, Strong Alumni Base

Cons: If you’re OOS heavy price tag, Large Student Population, Located in the Middle of Nowhere, Weather can get pretty nasty in the winter

BUT Overall, I think with Penn State you either immediately know you belong or don’t. You should visit mos def…if you already haven’t. I went up there last summer for minority recruitment. Prior to the trip I wasn’t even considering PSU but as soon as got there I fell in love!

I would agree with the post above. With PSU you probably can get a feeling of belong or not pretty quickly (at least I did.)

I also know that if could handle the rigors of Biomed Eng. here, ppl in that major have the highest med school admittance rate (I think in the 90s?)

So I guess I would agree with the pros, but large student pop is not a con for me, but it may be for you.
