pros vs cons of applying ED and RD?

besides the binding contract.

i'm wondering if ED can increase your chances? i know on nyu's site it says that it doesn't. but you never know.

my SAT is an 1830, i know that's a bit on the low side but i've seen some get in with scores in the 1800's and such. this isn't really a chance thread but, do any of you think that could really hinder me?

yup, ED does increase you chances - every school says that ED doesn’t, but if you check out the acceptance rates for ED and RD for stern, they are higher during the ED round.

your SAT will hurt you. Stern is more numbers driven in terms of admission and their median SAT is 1440 for CR+math. make up for it by having a great gpa + EC’s + essay but still your SAT may prevent you from getting in. but you never know. if you’re not a senior, i’d suggest retaking your SAT again after studying very hard for it, or taking the ACT.

well, i’m not applying for Stern, i’m going for CAS, and i’d say my gpa/EC’s/essays are pretty decent. and yes i am a senior

it’s too late for me to take the SAT again, so i’m kinda stuck with this score. >.>

just how much higher is the acceptance rate by the way? do you have a percentage?

oh sorry for some reason i thought i saw stern in there -___-

well for cas you could get accepted, but you would likely get LSP’ed because of your SAT score.

I got into CAS E.D. with an 1860.
Don’t lose hope.
I feel I was admitted because of my strong extra curriculars and essay.

@justspice, what’s LSP’ed? lol

@mindfreak2011, thank you. i really hope i get accepted. i also took 2 subject tests and got a 710 in spanish w/listening and a 680 in literature, do you think that makes up for it a little? and congrats on your acceptance :)
